In this Toys From the Past lesson, your class will learn what the term 'decade' means, then go on to investigate popular toys from past decades. As well as learning to order dates chronologically, your children will also have fun finding out about popular toys from the 90s – and earlier decades, too. They'll even discover when some of their favourite toys from the past, such as LEGO or Barbie dolls, were first invented.

Challenge your children to become toys history detectives and investigate a range of toys, old and new. What differences can they identify? In this lesson, your class will order pictures chronologically by looking at the same toy (such as a doll or car) from different time periods. They will need to investigate the clues and describe how they knew which toys were the oldest and which were most recent. They will also identify what is similar and what is different about the same toys over different periods.

#Lesson6OurToyMuseum
The final lesson in this series consolidates what the children have learnt about toys and challenges them to transform the classroom into a toy museum to show what they have found out. To do this, they will have to organise and arrange toys into categories, either through artwork or using real toys. You can then invite other classes, teachers or parents to come and view your fantastic museum!
