This lesson encourages children to think how objects can be best arranged to create a visually interesting composition by showing them different examples to evaluate. They will think about how still-life artists often use contrasts in their work and will explore how different placements of objects can create different effects. They can then experiment with arranging a variety of objects to sketch for themselves.

This lesson encourages children to be creative in their choice of colours as they identify still-life studies as a great way to experiment with colour, tone and shading.
