#Lesson2Whichbooksarespecialfordifferentreligions
The second lesson in this RE series of lessons gives your class an overview books that are special for different religions. Your class will explore books that are special for the Jewish, Christian and Muslim religions. They will be introduced to key vocabulary that will help them through the coming lessons, such as Torah, Jew, Bible, Christian, Qur'an, Muslim and more. They will also read and compare the three religions' versions of the story of Adam and Eve.

During this Special Books lesson your class will look in detail at the Torah as they think about why the Torah is special. They will find out information about the Jewish holy book, including what a yad is and why it is used. Together you will read and discuss the story of Abraham. During the lesson plenary your class will hear the story of Moses and find out about the significance of Mount Sinai. They will also reflect on the Ten Commandments.

This Special Books lesson for KS1 focuses on the Bible. Your class will learn about some of the similiarities between the Torah and the Bible. They will then discuss why the Bible is mass produced rather than hand-written as they begin to think about the desired purpose and audience of the text. Your class will also read and think about the story of Noah's Ark.

#Lesson5TheQuran
In the final lesson in this RE series of lessons on Special Books your class will learn about the Qur'an. They will think about how the Qur'an is treated, how the Qur’an came into existence and why it is usually in written in Arabic and not translated into other languages. Children will then discuss why Muslims believe taking care of the Qur’an is so important and they will find out why the prophet Mohammad's face isn't shown.
