What is Diwali?
Diwali, also known as the Festival of Lights, is one of the most important celebrations in Hinduism and is also observed by Sikhs, Jains and some Buddhists. It’s a time for families to come together, light lamps called diyas, decorate homes with rangoli, and enjoy food, fireworks and fun.
The festival celebrates the victory of light over darkness and good over evil, often told through the story of Rama and Sita. For pupils, learning about Diwali is a wonderful opportunity to explore different cultures and traditions. Our Diwali resources help children understand the religious and cultural significance of the festival through stories, discussions and creative activities.
