#TheCompleteSeries5lessons

In the first lesson, children will identify how everyone is unique and this makes everybody special. They will think about what makes them unique. Then, children identify how they are similar and different from their classmates. They help to resolve issues between children who are struggling to get along because of perceived differences between them. They will learn that our differences do not mean that we cannot get along. In the third lesson, children will learn about why it is important to eat a healthy, balanced diet in order to stay healthy. They plan healthy meals with their understanding of the food groups. In the following lesson, children explore the difference between private and public places, including the activities that we do in private and public. In the final lesson, children learn the correct names for male and female private parts and the rules surrounding these in regard to privacy. The NSPCC book 'Pantosaurus and the Power of Pants' is used to help children learn about how these parts of the body are private.

Everything you need to teach these five engaging PSHE KS1 lessons is included! For each lesson, there is a detailed lesson plan with differentiated activities, a high-quality slideshow, and all the printable resources required. Please note that 'Pantosaurus and the Power of Pants' needed to teach lesson 5 is not included within this scheme and must be purchased separately.

#Lesson1Iamunique

In this lesson, children will explore how everyone in the world is special and unique.

This will begin with a game of ‘Sit down if…’ until only one child is left standing. This will be used to introduce the term ‘unique’ and they will then go on to think about what makes themselves unique. Children could alternatively get creative and create a whole-class piece of fingerprint art! They will learn that, even though we are all unique, it is only through working together that we can achieve such amazing results! At the end of the lesson, children will offer advice to a boy who wishes he could be someone else by explaining how special and unique he is.

Everything you need to teach this KS1 PSHE lesson on being unique is included in the pack. There is a detailed lesson plan with differentiated activities, an engaging slideshow, and all the printable resources needed.

#Lesson2Similaritiesanddifferences

How is an elephant similar to a cat? How is it different? These questions will be used to stimulate a discussion about how humans are similar and different from one another.

Children will then try and help children who can’t get along because of their differences. Children will learn that, even though we can be very different from one another, this doesn’t mean we can’t get along. Your class might work in pairs to identify their similarities or differences or alternatively children might go on a walk around the space, finding out who they share similarities and differences within the class.

This pack is packed with everything that you will need to teach this KS1 PSHE lesson on similarities and differences. Included in the pack is a thorough lesson plan with differentiated activities and useful assessment questions. Children discover what each food group does in the body and how we need to be careful not to eat too many foods high in fat or sugar. They design healthy meals and at the end of the lesson, find out other ways in which we can stay healthy.

Everything you need to teach this KS1 PSHE lesson is included in the pack. There is a detailed lesson plan with differentiated activities, an engaging slideshow, and all the printable resources needed.

#Lesson4Privateandpublicactivitiesandplaces

Help your Year 1 class understand the difference between private places and activities and public activities and places. In this lesson, children will begin by discussing what they understand about privacy. They will learn that some places are private (e.g. a doctor’s surgery, a bedroom…) whilst others are public (e.g. a shopping centre, a cinema…).

They will then go on to explore how activities can be either private or public. Your class will either complete a sorting activity or alternatively play a game of four in a row to help them understand the difference between private and public places. At the end of the lesson, children will learn how it is OK to sometimes want to be on our own and why this is important for our mental health.

They will read 'Pantosaurus and the Power of Pants' to learn what to do if our privacy is invaded. Children will learn what the NSPCC’s acronym PANTS stands for and how it can help us stay safe. Your class will then show what they have learned by creating a whole-class washing line of pants! At the end of the lesson, children will play a game of true or false to consolidate the learning from this lesson.
