The first lesson in this vehicle features KS1 Year 2 series of lessons looks at a variety of different vehicles from ambulances to buggies. It encourages your class to investigate and identify different vehicle features, such as wheels, windscreens, seats and handles. The second lesson in this vehicles series of lessons explores wheels, axies and chassis with your Year 2 class. The lesson looks at the ways that wheels and axles can be combined, as well as how axles can be attached to the chassis to make the framework for a vehicle.

Your class will have the chance to investigate axles, wheels and chassis for themselves as they use a variety of different materials to make the framework of a vehicle.

The third lesson in this Year 2 vehicles DT lesson will teach your class all about vehicle bodies. They will think about different vehicles and how the function and design of their bodywork varies. Your class will be given the chance to explore how to combine different materials, such and boxes, card or bottles, to create the body for a vehicle. They will also begin to think about how their vehicle could be decorated.
