This Investigating Puppets lesson for Year 2 introduces your class to a variety of different types of puppets (such as marionettes, finger puppets, glove puppets and sock puppets) and gives them the chance to explore their features and how they move.

The slideshow presentation for the teaching input shows some images of a variety of puppets for your class to discuss together. During their independent work they can then either sketch and label the different features of different puppets using picture cards or explore a variety of puppets themselves if you have some available

In this Making Finger Puppets lesson for Year 2, your children will explore what finger puppets are before learning how to work with felt to make their own finger puppets!

They can then work independently to design and make their own finger puppets. Challenge your Year 2 children to design a puppet in this ready-to-teach DT lesson for KS1. The lesson starts with a slideshow presentation that shows a step-by-step process for how to make a glove puppet, with some fun finished examples to help get their ideas going!

The final lesson in this Puppets series gives your KS1 class the chance to evaluate the designing and making process they went through to make their puppets. The lesson starts by children each giving their puppets a name and spending some time introducing their puppet to their puppet friends! They will then go on to consider what the word 'evaluation' means and why it is important to evaluate a finished product.

They can then work independently or in groups to evaluate their puppets by answering a variety of questions.
