Your class will learn the world is split into seven continents and five oceans. They will practice naming and locating the continents and oceans as well as locating the UK is on a world map. Your class will have the opportunity to create an information wheel to describe which planet, continent, country and house they live in or complete a continents and oceans worksheet.

This United Kingdom KS1 lesson teaches your class about the countries that make up the UK and gives them the challenge of identifying the capital city of each one. They will explore each of the capital cities in detail and identify the national flags of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. When working independently they will read through information sheets and play a memory game or annotate a map of the UK and create their countries flag.

  • KS1 - name and locate the world's seven continents and five oceans.
