In this Expanded Noun Phrases Year 2 lesson, your class will learn to identify nouns in a sentence and will find out that, when adjectives are used to describe these, expanded noun phrases are created.

Children use adjectives and nouns to create simple noun phrases before identifying expanded noun phrases within given sentences. They then move on to developing their own expanded noun phrases to describe different scenes. Improving base sentences provides an opportunity for them to apply their understanding of how expanded noun phrases can be used to enhance writing.
