In these two engaging lessons, your space-loving KS1 class will get to design and make a moon buggy and also a moving space picture.

In the first of the two lessons, children will find out about the moon buggy which was used in the final Apollo missions. They will identify its features and will use their imagination to design a brand new moon buggy! Then, it is time for your KS1 class to get busy and will use junk modelling materials to bring their design to life! In the following lesson, children will learn how to make simple sliding and lever mechanisms. They will then use their skills to design and make a moving space picture. Maybe it will feature a rocket blasting off from the Kennedy Space Center or perhaps an alien appearing from a UFO - it is up to them!

Download this Space KS1 pack for everything you need to teach these creative space-themed DT lessons. Included in the pack are interactive slideshows, detailed lesson plans with differentiated activities and all of the printable worksheets and resources needed.

Good uses of sources

Super content matched to our school’s knowledge progression maps. I liked the embedded videos and QR code opportunities to view sources independently on tablets. I think the choice to buy individual lessons could be made clearer on the website. I liked the option to only buy the history content. The planning considered requirements of the NC eg thinking like historians and handling sources. Great unit of work. Thank you!

Hi Elaine, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review - we're so pleased to hear that you like our resources. We are just a small team of five ex-teachers, so we really appreciate your feedback :-)
