Take your KS2 class back to prehistoric times with this comprehensive Stone Age Boy Planning Pack, based on the wonderful book by Satoshi Kitamura. A set of six ready-to-teach English lessons, this planning pack takes an in-depth look at the Stone Age Boy story and challenges your Year 3 children to respond in a variety of ways, improving both their reading and writing skills as they do so.
Using these six Stone Age Boy lesson plans, your class will first become familiar with the text, showing their understanding by sequencing the story and answering a range of comprehension questions. They will then focus on how to use direct speech and descriptive language, before using this knowledge to plan and write their own version of the book, 'Stone Age Boy'.
Each of the lessons in this Stone Age Boy Planning Pack comes with a detailed plan, a set of slides for the teaching input, as well as a range of differentiated worksheets and activity ideas.

In their independent activities, they are challenged to add speech punctuation to given sentences, or in the alternative activity, they work in pairs to write a short conversation between Om and the boy, using direct speech.
