This lesson explores who was King James I, how he became king and what life was like in Britain at the end of the Tudor period. Your class will learn about religious conflicts at this time and find out what life was like for Catholics in England during the reign of James I. Learn all about the Guy Fawkes story, finding out who he was and why he decided to leave England and join the Spanish army. This lesson recaps the religious tensions in England during the reign of King James I, before explaining how Guy became involved the plot. Your class will be challenged to form a conscience alley and help Guy decide if killing the king would be the right thing to do.
