Physical Geography
In this lesson, children will find out all about the diverse and delightful landforms that can be found in the Caribbean, from beautiful beaches and coral reefs, to caves, mountains and volcanoes.
After defining what 'physical geography' is, children will go on to research different Caribbean landforms in groups, combining their findings into one large informative sheet. In this final lesson, children will focus on the area as a tourist destination, exploring the tourist industry's importance to the economy of the Caribbean.
In their independent activities, children will take on the role of travel agent and advise holiday seekers where to visit depending on their preferences. In the alternative activity, children will explore the advantages and disadvantages of tourism for the Caribbean, culminating in a class debate using the motion, 'The negative impact of tourism in the Caribbean outweighs the positive impact it has.'
