Key Stage 2 Multiplication and Division Maths Summer Term Year 6

This series of lessons is bound to get your children’s brains working. They will show what they know about numbers as they manipulate and eliminate them. Your class will be challenged to find the lowest common multiple as well as apply their knowledge of multiplication and division when they solve a variety of problems.

#TheCompleteSeries5lessons

This set of five multiplication and division lessons comes with all you need to teach your class about factors multiples and primes, including detailed lesson plans, lesson slides and printable resources.

#Lesson1Findandusefactorsandmultiples

The first lesson in this Factors, Multiples and Primes scheme of work will encourage your class to explain what factors, products, multiples and integers are. They will be challenged to find and record factors and multiples of numbers. The lesson concludes with an open-ended activity that gives children the opportunity to share what they know about a given number.

What's included:

  • Lesson plan
  • Slides
  • Activity ideas
  • Sieve of Eratosthenes Video
  • Worksheets
  • Game Sheet
  • Help Sheet
#Lesson2PrimeFactorTrees

During the second lesson of this Factors, Multiples and Primes scheme of work your class will make and use prime factor trees. They will be challenged to explain what a prime number is and how it differs from a composite number. Then they will apply this knowledge when finding the prime factors of numbers. They will be encouraged to check their answers by multiplying the prime factors.

What's included:

  • Lesson plan
  • Slides
  • Activity ideas
  • Prime Factor Multiplication Grid
  • Worksheets
  • Numbers
  • Missing Numbers Prime Factor Multiplication Grid
  • Incomplete Prime Factor Trees
#Lesson3TestingDivisibility

During this lesson your class will become increasingly familiar and confident with composite and prime numbers. They will be introduced to a range of divisibility tests and challenged to use the tests to eliminate composite numbers from a set of numbers.

#Lesson4FindCommonMultiples

During the penultimate lesson in this Factors, Multiples and Primes Year 6 scheme of work your class will use different methods to find the lowest common multiples. They will be introduced to a formula method and a grid method. The children will need to use a range of skills, including multiplication, division and knowledge of factors to solve the problems.

What's included:

  • Lesson plan
  • Slides
  • Activity ideas
  • Worksheets
  • Multiples Grids
