What are tenths? Find and recognise tenths of a whole number, practise counting in tenths and write and represent tenths with this ready to teach Year 3 fractions lesson plan pack, differentiated activities and resources.

What is a fraction? This, the first of five 'Finding Fractions' lessons, begins with a brief recap to help you determine your pupils' current knowledge and understanding of basic fractions, before moving on to focus specifically on tenths. In this lesson, children will learn how to write and represent tenths in pictorial form, as well as practising counting on and back in tenths. In their independent activities, children will identify and record tenths in a variety of different ways. Or if you fancy something different, in the alternative activity children can practise their recognising tenths in different forms by playing Tenths Dominoes using the included printable PDF resources.
