This three-lesson scheme of work for KS1 will encourage your class to think about the plants and animals in your local area and how they are all connected to each other. They will start to understand that plants and animals depend on each other for survival and that we need to help take care of plants and animals so that the balance is maintained.

In the final lesson of this series, children will establish that animals, just like humans, need a safe place to live. They will explore some reasons why animal habitats are destroyed or disturbed, then look and what bug hotels are and how they support the plants and animals in the local environment. Children will then design and make their own bug hotels.

This downloadable lesson comes with a lesson plan, a slideshow presentation and printable teaching resources.
