In this second lesson of the series your class will use the rounding and adjusting method to work out stock totals in the shop. They will be encouraged to think about the most effective way to adjust the numbers and explain what they did and why.
Your class will use their problem-solving skills when loading items onto shop shelves. They will add multiple items, using a variety of methods, to ensure they stay within the weight limits of each shelf. The problems in this open-ended lesson have many solutions and can encourage your class to think about their own preferences.
In the penultimate lesson in this series your class will be looking at the money spend during the shop rebrand. They will find the total of different expenses using methods of their choice. The lesson concludes by asking the children to check the shopkeeper’s running total of expenses and find their mistake.
In the final lesson of this series your class will go shopping in the newly opened store. They will use a variety of addition methods when deciding what to buy while staying in budget. Alternatively they will work out how much money different customers have spent on their weekly shop.
