What do we know about Jesus? - The Complete Series (6 lessons)

Delve a little deeper into the character of Jesus in these informative and engaging Year 3 KS2 RE lessons. Your class will have the chance to look at varying representations of Jesus and explore whether any of these can be accurate before finding out what the Bible tells us about his personality, actions and life. As well as using the Gospels, your class will study opinions about Jesus from a range of Biblical characters and explore why not everyone liked or trusted him, before looking at what Jesus said about himself.

Picture Him

This introductory lesson shows your class a variety of representations of Jesus in art across the centuries and continents, giving the children the chance to discuss why each is so different. Children will consider reasons why no one knows what Jesus looked like and think about why different ethnic groups portray Jesus in different ways.

Portraying Beliefs

This lesson studies how portrayals of Jesus in art can tell us a great deal about the artist's personal beliefs about Jesus, and gives your class the chance to express their own views about what Jesus was like in a variety of ways.

Moving on to what we know about Jesus' personality, this lesson explores accounts of Jesus in the Gospels and gives your class the chance to become more familiar with these four Bible books.

This lesson explores some of the negative views that Jesus' contemporaries had of him and gives your class the chance to find out why not everyone in the first century thought of Jesus in a positive way.

In the Bible, Jesus describes himself as being many things and this lesson allows your children to explore how Jesus described himself and why he used metaphors, such as the ‘Bread of Life’, to do this.
