#TheCompleteSeries5lessons
These KS2 'Journeys' lessons provide everything you need (apart from the paint and paper!) to teach this hands-on and creative scheme of work including lesson plans, slides, activity ideas, worksheets, differentiated activity ideas and much more!
#Lesson1IndigenousAustralianArt
The first lesson in this series introduces your class to Indigenous Australian art and looks at how it uses symbols for the everyday objects of the Australian bush. This provides the starting point for your class to invent their own symbols to use in their artwork.
What's included:
- Lesson plan
- Slides
- Activity ideas
- Differentiated worksheets
#Lesson2TheDreamtime
Continuing the theme of Indigenous Australian art, this lesson looks at the Dreamtime and how the spirits created the world. Your class will then have the chance to create their own artwork based on a Dreamtime journey.
What's included:
- Lesson plan
- Slides
- Activity ideas
- Indigenous Australian Art sheets
- Symbols Cards
#Lesson3HeretoThere
This lesson allows children to use familiar journeys they take every day (such as the journey to school) and turn those journeys into works of art. The step-by-step instructions on the slides demonstrate how to create paths, add symbols and use colour to their artwork before giving them the chance to try it out for themselves!
Please note that, due to the practical nature of this lesson, worksheets are not necessary and, therefore are not included.
What's included:
- Lesson plan
- Slides
- Differentiated activity ideas
#Lesson4PaulKlee
Looking at the work of famous artist Paul Klee, this lesson explores the more abstract side to journey art and encourages your class to think about how line, colour, shape and tone are used. Your class will also have the chance to take their pencils for a nice long walk!
What's included:
- Lesson plan
- Slides
- Activity ideas
- Worksheets
#Lesson5CreatingJourneys
This last lesson gives your class the creative opportunity to consolidate all the ideas they have gathered throughout the scheme of work to create a final piece of 'Journey' art. They will look back at the work they have done and consider how they can pull different ideas together, or indeed employ new ideas, to convey a journey in a work of art.
What's included:
- Lesson plan
- Slides
- Activity ideas
- Activity cards
