Subtraction Strategies

Challenge children to solve real-world subtraction problems using population data and other real statistics.

Get your class using and applying their maths skills in this world-focused subtraction scheme of work. Your class will find out about the world and what it looks like in numbers. They will compare real-life statistics including where the proportional and actual population of the world live, how many people get involved in theInternational Day of Peace and what charities do with their money. As the lessons progress the children will look at budgets and profits of events and apply this knowledge to organise their own fundraising event.

Each lesson includes an easy-to-follow plan, a slide presentation for the teaching input, and differentiated worksheets.
