In this Language of Instructions Year 2 lesson pack, inspired by 'The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch', children will firstly look for examples of time adverbials and imperative verbs in one of Mrs Grinling's recipes.

Your Year 2 class will then work in pairs to rehearse a cookery programme live from Mrs Grinling's kitchen! They will use images of how to make iced cupcakes to practise giving clear instructions to the viewers at home. They will perform their cookery shows at the end of the lesson, trying hard to include a range of time adverbials and imperative verbs. Higher-ability children will be encouraged to use adverbs to make their instructions even clearer.

Everything you need to teach this exciting lesson is included in the pack including a detailed lesson plan, the engaging slideshow and all the printable resources and word banks you will need.
