What is included in the Primary History Curriculum Pack Option 2?
The History Curriculum Pack provides a complete History curriculum framework for Years 1 to 6, with 17 ready-to-teach schemes of work covering the National Curriculum requirements that can be planned on a whole-school basis. The remaining KS2 local history study is planned by your school to reflect your own local area. Each PlanBee scheme includes detailed lesson plans, teaching slides, differentiated activities and printable resources, alongside curriculum documentation to support whole-school planning, coverage and progression.
Is History Curriculum Pack Option 2 suitable for the whole primary school?
Yes. The curriculum provides a carefully sequenced approach to teaching History from Year 1 through to Year 6, covering both KS1 and KS2. It is particularly useful for History subject leaders looking to establish a coherent and consistent whole-school curriculum.
Does History Curriculum Pack Option 2 cover the National Curriculum?
Yes. The schemes have been selected and sequenced to provide coverage of the National Curriculum requirements for History across KS1 and KS2, with the exception of the local history study, which schools plan according to their own local area. Supporting curriculum documents help subject leaders see where requirements are addressed throughout the curriculum.
Why are there 17 schemes of work rather than 18?
The National Curriculum requires KS2 pupils to undertake a local history study. Because this needs to reflect your school's own local area, it isn't possible for us to provide one scheme that would be relevant to every school. The pack therefore provides 17 complete schemes covering the other areas of the curriculum, leaving your school free to plan a local history study that is meaningful to your location and community.
How does the curriculum support progression in History?
The Curriculum Pack includes knowledge and skills progression documentation showing how children's historical learning develops across Years 1 to 6. Children progressively develop their chronological understanding, knowledge of the past and ability to work with historical evidence, ask questions, make comparisons and explore concepts such as cause, consequence, change and continuity.
What will children learn about in History Curriculum Pack Option 2?
Children encounter a broad range of periods, people and events from British and world history. The curriculum combines substantive historical knowledge with opportunities to develop historical enquiry skills and an increasingly secure understanding of chronology and key historical concepts.
What is included in each History scheme of work?
PlanBee History schemes provide the planning and resources teachers need to deliver each unit, including detailed lesson plans, teaching slides, differentiated activities and printable resources. Teachers can use the schemes as ready-to-teach units or adapt them to suit their pupils and school context.
What is the difference between History Curriculum Pack Option 1 and Option 2?
Both options provide a carefully sequenced History curriculum for Years 1 to 6 and are designed to cover the requirements of the National Curriculum, with the local history study planned by individual schools. The two options contain different selections and sequences of History schemes, giving schools an alternative choice of topics while maintaining coherent curriculum coverage and progression.
Can I preview History Curriculum Pack Option 2 before purchasing?
Yes. You can preview the Curriculum Pack overview before purchasing to see exactly which schemes are included across Years 1 to 6, how they are sequenced and the supporting curriculum documentation provided with the pack.
Can I adapt the History curriculum for my school?
Yes. The Curriculum Pack provides a coherent whole-school structure while allowing individual schemes and lessons to be adapted to suit your pupils, local context, existing curriculum and your school's approach to teaching History.
Can I buy the individual History schemes separately?
Yes. The schemes included in History Curriculum Pack Option 2 are also available individually, so you can purchase particular History schemes if you do not need a complete Years 1 to 6 curriculum.
Is History Curriculum Pack Option 2 suitable for History subject leaders?
Yes. Alongside ready-to-teach classroom resources, the pack gives History subject leaders a clear overview of what is taught across the school, how National Curriculum requirements are covered and how children's historical knowledge and skills develop from Year 1 to Year 6.
How will I receive the History Curriculum Pack?
The History Curriculum Pack is a digital resource. After purchasing, you can access and download the included planning, teaching resources and curriculum documentation without waiting for physical materials to be delivered.
