This free series of three ready-to-teach lessons is downloadable. Each lesson comes with engaging slides, detailed teacher planning, worksheets and activity ideas.

#Lesson1CuttingSkillsPrintables

The lesson begins by looking at different types of scissors and their uses. Children then discuss the safety aspects of using scissors before putting their skills to the test by cutting straight, zigzag and wavy lines as accurately as they can. This lesson contains cutting skills printables so the children can apply their skills in independent activities where they cut out a range of shapes to create a house, a fruit basket or a slice of pizza! Alternatively, children can practise the skills of folding and cutting through several layers of paper by making animal-themed paper chains.

  • Activity ideas
  • Differentiated worksheets

They will either choose a Challenge Card and follow the instructions on it to create their own paper toy.
