This lesson starts by looking closely at Van Gogh's 'Sunflower' paintings. The slides go through these paintings grouped by year and encourage your class to look for similarities and differences. They will then be shown a step-by-step process on the slides detailing how to create shades and tints of colours, before applying this skill to their own paintings.

They will be encouraged to think about how Van Gogh's technique and use of colour changed and developed over time.
