Let's use money

Help your class become more familiar with coins and notes, and to solve a variety of money problems in different contexts.

During these five money lessons for Year 1 your class will use money and become confident solving money problems. They will recognise the value of coins and notes as well as solve problems involving finding the total value of a set of coins, working out how much money is left after some money has been spent and finally working out how much change is owed in shopping scenarios.

This set of money lessons has been created to cover some of the National Curriculum measurement strand of objectives and contains lesson plans, slideshow presentations for the teaching input, differentiated activity ideas and a range of printable teaching resources.
