#TheCompleteSeries5lessons
This downloadable series of lessons contain lesson plans, slideshow presentations and printable teaching resources.
#Lesson1Perimeter
Let’s get measuring with this Measuring Perimeter KS2 Maths lesson! Challenge children to define what ‘perimeter’ means, then identify perimeters on shapes and objects. They will then measure the sides of polygons and add them together to find their perimeters. With the two included activities, your children may either practise this, or explore ways in which different shapes of rectangle may have the same perimeter.
This downloadable lesson contains a lesson plan, slideshow presentation and printable teaching resources.
What's included:
- Lesson plan
- Slides
- Activity ideas
- Differentiated worksheets
- Challenge cards
#Lesson2AreaFormula
This Shape Area lesson teaches your class how to find the area of rectilinear shapes. The included slides clearly explain, and show children two strategies for finding area inside rectilinear shapes – firstly by counting squares, then by using the formula length multiplied by width. With the two included activities, your class can either practise measuring shapes to find their area and perimeter, or explore ways in which rectangles of different proportions can have the same area.
This downloadable lesson contains a lesson plan, slideshow presentation and printable teaching resources.
What's included:
- Lesson plan
- Slides
- Activity ideas
- Differentiated worksheets
#Lesson3PerimeterandAreaProblems
In this Solving Perimeter and Area Problems Maths lesson, your Year 5 class will apply what they have previously learned about area and perimeter when solving problems. They may also consider the relationship between the lengths of the sides of a rectangle and its area by identifying factor pairs which (when multiplied) equal the area.
This downloadable lesson contains a lesson plan, slideshow presentation and printable teaching resources.
What's included:
- Lesson plan
- Slides
- Activity ideas
- Differentiated worksheets
- Challenge cards
#Lesson4EstimatingVolume
Challenge your children to find the volume of cuboids by either visualising the number of 1cm³ cubes required to construct them! Children may then practise this skill during either of the two included activities, where they may first estimate the volume of cuboids, then use blocks to construct them and compare the volumes to their original estimates.
This downloadable lesson contains a lesson plan, slideshow presentation and printable teaching resources.
What's included:
- Lesson plan
- Slides
- Activity ideas
- Differentiated worksheets
- Cuboid templates
- Help card
#Lesson5CalculatingVolume
This Calculating Volume Year 5 Maths lesson builds on children’s previous learning about calculating volumes of cuboids, challenge children to calculate volumes using the formula length multiplied by width multiplied by height. After that, choose from one of the two included activities for them to attempt, where they may either calculate the volumes of cuboids according to given dimensions, or construct cuboids using nets and measure them.
This downloadable lesson contains a lesson plan, slideshow presentation and printable teaching resources including a volume of a cuboid worksheet.
What's included:
- Lesson plan
- Slides
- Activity ideas
- Differentiated worksheets
- Cuboid net templates
