The alternative activity for this lesson challenges the children to use their number facts when thinking of lots of different ways to make a target number.

The second lesson in this series gives your class the opportunity to become confident with applying number facts and using objects and pictures to prove their answers. Through hands-on activities your class will match, create, find and make all of the number bonds to ten. The alternative activity for this lesson challenges the children to create a number bond to ten poster to display in the classroom.

Are there different ways to make ten?

The third lesson in this series focuses on getting your class to find lots of different ways to make ten using weights and bead strings. The main activity encourages your class to use bead strings to solve missing number sentences and write number sentences to explain pictorial representations of number bonds. The alternative activity will have your class using weights to find ways to make ten using more than two numbers.

The fourth lesson in this series introduces 'ten frames' and encourages your class to visualise numbers in groups of five. Your class will use ten frames to represent numbers shown on facts diagrams and find how many more they need to make ten. Can we apply our number fact knowledge?

Now that your class are confident with their number bonds and number facts to ten they will be challenged to apply their knowledge through a variety of games. This lesson will give you the opportunity to see which methods and resources your class use, and if they can work systematically to solve problems. You will also be able to see if the children can use metal recall of number facts when solving problems.
