Lesson 1

Number Sequences

The first lesson in this Spring term scheme of work for Year 1 will get your class looking closely at number sequences. They will look for patterns as they work out the next number in the sequence. Your children will be focusing on sequences that increase or decrease in jumps of two, five or ten.

Counting in twos

The second lesson in this ‘Let’s count in multiples!’ scheme of work for Year 1, will get your class counting in twos. Lesson 3

Count in twos, fives and tens to solve problems

The third lesson in this counting in multiples scheme of work encourages your children to apply their knowledge of counting in twos, fives and tens to solving problems. They will decide what each question is asking them to do, before drawing pictures and counting in multiples to solve it.

Draw groups and count objects

During the penultimate lesson in this ‘Let’s count in multiples’ series of lessons, your class will draw objects in groups of two, five and ten to solve problems. They will think carefully about what each question is asking as they draw the correct number of objects in the correct number of groups. This lesson will increase your classes understanding of how addition and multiplication are linked as they create pictorial representations of multiplication number sentences.
