For this lesson, the children will practise counting forwards and backwards in twos, saying what comes next as well as working out the missing numbers. The third lesson in this series introduces your class to counting in tens is a variety of different ways, such as using a hundred square and puppet, counting objects that represent ten and counting dienes blocks. The children will have opportunities to sequence missing tens numbers as well as make tens numbers using picture cards.

The children will enjoy a fun interactive game of counting in fives to find the missing number in order to stop the man from falling off the ladder! They can also have fun answering counting in fives questions to be the first to cross a river of crocodiles.

Mixed Counting

During the fifth and final lesson in this series, your class will continue to apply their knowledge of counting in twos, fives and tens and place value to answer and solve a range of problems. The children will enjoy finding the correct coin amounts by counting in either twos, fives or tens, as well as playing a fun shopping bingo game.
